1. This mound is thought to be the location of ancient Aigai (var. transliterations: Aegae, etc.). But the location of ancient Aigai is not known precisely. It is thought to be at the present day Politika Kafkala or some place in the near vicinity. Topostext gives its location as 38.586 N, 23.555 E but with low confidence.
