NOTES

1. With respect to the names:

Gyrtoni: the modern name of the town at F1914, just about 1 km. to SW of the acropolis hill.
Bakraina: the former name of the town of Gyrtoni.
Gyrtone: The name used in the Iliad and which probably refers to this acropolis (C1351).
Mopsion: The probable ancient name of the Gyrtone acropolis. This was first suggested by Stählin. For more see this.
