1. In Simpson and Lazenby [1962] 171, we read this: "Following the report of about twenty Mycenaean chamber tombs at Eleona, at the north-east end of the plain, we searched this area closely. On the immediate right of the road from Kardhamena to Kos town, where the road begins to ascend, is the track to Eleona, a collection of scattered houses at the foot of the mountains which close this end of the plain. Some 400 metres to the right of the road, on gentle foothills, is a spring (now turned into a dexameni) and a group of houses round it. Between the spring and the road, on the lower slopes of the foothills, we found a scatter of Mycenaean pottery, mainly centred on a plateau-like terrace, about a hundred metres in width, terminating in a little knoll on the south, about 30 metres above the level of the plain, and about 100 metres to the right of the road. The sherds included ..."

'Eleona' seems to have no corporate presence according to the maps I have consulted. The area E and S of Platani is an open landscape, partly agricultural, and dotted with houses.
A little distance to the S of this ascending road (1) there is a pond (dexameni, Δεξαμενή: A tank, reservoir, or cistern) here: 36.867771°, 27.293222° This brings us to the edge of the foothills mentioned. The pond is, indeed, about 325 m. to the west (right) of the road.
The intended 'little knoll' might be here: 36.866773°, 27.295950°

For these reasons I have placed the proposed sherd site at 36.867498°, 27.297186° which should be within about 50 m. of Simpson's sherd site.
