NOTES

1. Keratea has grown since Hood was exploring there in 1962 (Simpson 1981, 48, 'B 27') and the 1.5 km. distance no longer means what it did then. The church of Aghia Triada is located at F2321 and I placed the site marker just across the street. This actually is in the saddle between two low hills. This area is now, in 2017, completely paved over for a rehabilitation center. Stubbings [1947], 23, says of this site: "There is another stirrup-jar with an 'octopus' design, from Keratea on the east coast of Attica, now in Karlsruhe (F.G. Welter, Bausteine zur Archäologie, pl. I,i: mentioned in Skeat's list)."

2. Simpson and Dickinson [1979] 211, 'F 29 Keratea: Kefali', mention the existence of a cave 'near Keratea' which contained LH IIIC vases. Their references are to AA (1916) 142 and AA (1926) 400. Pictures of these vases may be found here, images 1 and 2, and here, image 4.
