TYPE
1. Artifacts. Kanta [1980], 187 'A bronze chisel, two amygdaloid glass-paste seal-stones and a third, madeof jasper and with the figure of the Minoan goddess between two griffins were found.'2. Cem. Nowicki [2000], 55 'A big building and an LM IIIC tholos tomb were identified at the north-west end of this hill (Fig. 13.2) ...'
3. Pottery. Kanta [1980], 187 'There are three vases from the tomb in the eastern storeroom of the Heraklion Museum.'
4. Tholos. Eaby [2007], 91 '..., an LM IIIB/C tholos (#2) with round chamber was excavated on the northwest end of the same hill, and it contained two larnakes, vases, a bronze knife/chisel, and a sealstone.'

NOTES
1. With respect to location Eaby (p. 91) says 'On Patela Hill south of the modern village, in 1955 Platon excavated a small tholos ... ' The modern village to which she refers is Stavromenos (F4147). But contrary to her assertion the tholos is actually on Sfakia hill (F6512) and not on Pateles hill (F6511). Pateles hill is about 1 km. to the W of Sfakia and hems in the town of Maronia on the E.
Nowicki says that Sfakia, now deserted, is about a 30-minute walk south of Stavromenos (p. 55). Topoguide calls the hill in this area 'Sfakia' (F6512). At any rate the former village of Sfakia (which I cannot locate precisely) was somewhere in this area. All these places are, indeed, about 800 m. SW of the settlement of Kastri (C5133) as Eaby (p. 92) would have it.
