GENERAL SITE TYPE Settlement

TYPE

1.    hab.   Simpson [1981], 123    '..the site appeared to be small.'
2.    hab.   Messenia III, 133    'A small prehistoric habitation site occupied the rising ground immediately S of the latter spring.' The spring is called 'Manna'.
3.    Settlement.   Simpson and Dickinson [1979], 149    '...a few coarse ware sherds and the base of a LH IIIB deep bowl indicate a small settlement.'

1. LH III: (1410 BC - 1060 BC)
    a.    Messenia III: 133, 'Among the sherds are a number of pieces of "oatmeal" ware and one definite Mycenaean fragment. This is from a LH III deep bowl with hollowed base...'

2. LH IIIB: (1320 BC - 1190 BC)
    a.    Simpson [1981]: 123, 'A few coarse ware sherds and the base of a LH IIIB deep bowl were found ..'
