Buck [1979], 6: 'Magoula Balomenou ... has been tentatively identified with Arne of the Catalogue, as a low-lying site associated with Chaeronea.'
Fossey [1988] 383: 'The site is probably to be equated with ancient Arne.'
Hornblower [2015], 272, line 644 repeats the opinion that it is in the neighborhood of Chaironeia (perhaps even Chaironea itself).
The Barrington Atlas/Pleiades position for Arne is fanciful.

2. The position of the mound is given in Farinetti [2011 A13], p. 8 who says: "A low mound can be seen NE of Chaironeia, N of the railway line and W of the bench of the Kephisos river, 300m SW of the modern bridge"
