GENERAL SITE TYPE Sherds

TYPE

1.    Sherds.   Hood et al. [1964], 91    'Perhaps this was the site of a Minoan house destroyed when the modern hut was built.' Given the terra-forming to which this district as been subject it is very doubtful whether anything is left of this hut.

SITE SIZE

- Hood et al. [1964]  p. 91,  Size: 1200 sq. m.  'Minoan sherds were concentrated in a small field (about 40 m. north to south by 30 m. west to east) ... at the northern end of the projecting southern shoulder of 'Komitas' on the eastern side ...' See Hood et al. [1964], Fig. 19 on p. 90, point D.

PERIOD (High Chronology)

1. Minoan: (3100 BC - 1075 BC)
    a.    Hood et al. [1964]: 91, 'Minoan sherds were concentrated in a small field ... to the north-east of a modern hut at the northern end of the projecting southern shoulder of 'Komitas' on the eastern side ...'

2. Middle Minoan: (2100 BC - 1675 BC)
    a.    Hood et al. [1964]: 92, '...some (sherds, RHC) were certainly M.M., ...'

3. Late Minoan I: (1675 BC - 1470 BC)
    a.    Hood et al. [1964]: 92, '...and we saw none (sherds, RHC) that need be later than L.M. I.'
