1. The various constituent necropoli of Pantalica such as the Necropoli Nord, etc. have been called out in the Features.
2. I have marked the so-called 'Anaktoron' thought by some (e.g. P. Orsi, the original excavator, 1895; also Bernabò Brea in his 1990 article 'Pantalica: Ricerche intorno all'anáktoron' for the Cahiers du Centre Jean Berard) to be a Mycenaean-influenced building. This view is criticized by Leighton and others. See Leighton [1999] 155 and 157 for a description and critique. Also Leighton [2011] 450. Mederos-Martin questions the vase from sepulcher 133 at Pantalica in Mederos-Martin [1999] 241. It may be naive for me to suggest that if the 'Anaktoron' really was Mycenaean-influenced then why are there not more plainly Mycenaean pottery finds from the Pantalica area? Van Wijngaarden, for example, finds no place for Pantalica in his catalogue.
