NOTES
1. In the Oxford Roman Economy Project database here the coordinates are given as 35.17766 N, 25.85701 E. This puts the wreck about 1100 m. offshore.
2. Not everyone believes that this large deposit of pottery is a shipwreck. Shelley Wachsmann in an article 'Which Way Forward?; On the Directionality of Minoan/Cycladic Ships' published in Skyllis (11) pp. 12-18 which is online here says on p. 17, footnote 14: "Not every group of artifacts found on the seabed indicates a shipwreck. I remain highly skeptical that the group of ceramics found off Pseira and identified as a "Minoan shipwreck" are to be interpreted in this manner ..."
