NOTES

2. The location of Palaios Oropos has been made somewhat obscure. The AR [2001] 13 says 'In Odos Dexamenes, ca 4 km to the NW of Skala Oropou, at the foot of Mt Maurovouno, were located PR remains, ... '

This is impossible.

The editors have clearly written 'NW' when they meant 'SW'. No area is simultaneously 4 km. to NW of Skala Oropou and at the foot of Mt. Maurovouno. The Odos Dexamenes is, in fact, just on the south end of the little town of Oropos, about 4 km. to the SW of Skala Oropou, and at the foot of the hills leading up to Mt. Maurovouno.
