GENERAL SITE TYPE  Chamber Tomb

TYPE

1.    Chamber Tomb.   AR[1993], 51    'At Lekouna illicit excavation brought to light a ChT which was then investigated: nothing was found to allow dating.'
2.    Chamber Tomb.   Kramer-Hajos [2008], 52    'At two different places in Lekouna chamber tombs were found: ... '
3.    Chamber Tomb.   AR[1992], 51    'At Lekona two ChTs were excavated; one had been robbed but neither had offerings and they cannot be dated.'

PERIOD (High Chronology)

1. LH IIIC: (1190 BC - 1060 BC)
    a.    Kramer-Hajos [2008]: 53, 'If the tombs at Lekouna-Samarthi are Mycenaean - and their construction is very unremarkable - they may be of IIIC or Submycenaean date, ... '

2. Sub Mycenaean: (1060 BC - 1000 BC)
    a.    Kramer-Hajos [2008]: 52, 'If the tombs at Lekouna-Samarthi are Mycenaean - and their construction is very unremarkable - they may be of IIIC or Submycenaean date, ... '

NOTE

1.  Neither of these locations contains dated material. Kramer-Hajos did not visit them. The exact location of these TWO sites is not known to me (RHC). Kramer-Hajos tells us (52-3) that one is at Samarthi on the property of D. Tselekouni in Lekouna. The other is at the Angeli Anesti olive grove. K-H includes a confusing (to me at any rate) note (52) which makes them sound like they are near the Hagios Georgios monastery just north of Malesina. This makes them sound concerningly like C5169. The reader is cautioned about this ambiguity. As references K-H gives

  • Dakoronia, F. AD 42 (1987) B1, Athens 1992, 231
