1.    Sherds.   Gale and Stos-Gale [1981], 202    ' ..., some potsherds collected above ground at Ayios Sostis, ..., can be more accurately dated on the basis of their fabric, techniques, and ornament.'

PERIOD (High Chronology)

1. Early Cycladic I: (3200 BC - 2700 BC)
    a.    Gale and Stos-Gale [1981]: 202, 'According to archaeological observations made at this site lead and silver production started on Siphnos at least in Early Cycladic I.'

2. Early Cycladic II: (2700 BC - 2450 BC)
    a.    Gale and Stos-Gale [1981]: 202, 'Based on other sherds found at Agios Sostis there is also evidence for mining there in EC II and later periods of the Bronze Age.'

3. Archaic: (700 BC - 480 BC)
    a.    Gale and Stos-Gale [1981]: 202, 'Silver-mining on Siphnos was also practised in the Late Archaic period, as was mentioned by Herodotus and is now confirmed for the Ayios Sostis, ... sites. '
