NOTES

1.  For more see: Aron, Francois, Πτυχές τής άρχαίας Σύρου. Άπανωσύρια (έκδοση ΚΕΟ, Άθήνα), 1979.

A map based on Dr. Aron's research in Syros in the 1980's may be found here as fig. A.

2.  The exact position is not known to me. Simpson and Dickinson [1979] 311 say ' ..., c. 4 km. W of Hermoupolis.' Soterakopoulos [2004] 75 says 'A hill dominating a small plain and a short distance from the sea, near Kini'. From the marked position and along the road to the southern edge of Hermoupolis is just 4 km. Also the marked spot sits on the ridge of a hill that looks out over Kini to the W some 1200 m from the ocean. Aron's map (Fig. A) also shows Pidhima, 'ΠΗΔΗΜΑ', in just this same position.
