1. Early Bronze Age: (3200 BC - 2100 BC)

    b.    Simpson and Dickinson [1979]: 320, 'EB?'

NOTES

1.  The Kostos site was reported to Tsountas but never found. Renfrew offers a guess. The position used in this atlas was determined by working backwards from the position of Pyrgos (C6950), which is known. Renfrew [2011] gives the position of Pyrgos as 630, 290 and the position for Kostos suggested by him is 635, 382. Renfrew has used positions based on the 1:50,000, AEGEAN Series maps issued by the Geographical Section, General Starr, no. 4468. These were issued in 1944 and were not available to me. The reference system is, however, easy to understand. The coordinates are meter offsets from some origin in lon/lat form. For example the position of Kostos relative to Pyrgos (as I said, this position is known) is 500 m. E and 9200 m. N. This should be sufficient to give the position of Kostos (keeping in mind that it was an estimate by Renfrew) to within 100 m.

2.  Page numbers in Renfrew [2011] are, in actuality, location numbers in the electronic edition, ISBN 978-1-78570-773-5.
