NOTE

1.

The two Geometric cups were found at Sarres (C7043), near the ruined church of Aghia. Marina (F6041), by I. Konstantinou and I. Travlos. They deduced that there had been an area of early occupation here. I positioned this based on the sketch map in Sackett et al. [1966] 72, Fig. 12 and the statement in Fachard [2012] 322, '109. Sarri' that Sarres lies at the foot of Palaiokastro hill and on the right bank of the Chondros river.

Just to the N. of Itea (F6040) Konstantinou and Travlos found remains of a building (F6042). They concluded that these remains came from a paleochristian basilica which had reused ancient blocks. Graves were found nearby helping to confirm this judgement.

Architectural fragments were found by Konstantinou and Travlos near the Church of Ag. Dimitrios (F1603). They showed that this had also been an early area of occupation although no trace of a temple was found in this area. On the basis of scattered or reused architectural blocks found here, Konstantinou and Travlos concluded that they came from a temple of the second half of the IVth century B.C. The two investigators identified these remains ('ces vestiges errants') as coming from the Temple of Apollo at Tamynai.

I have suggested, based on Sackett et al. [1966] 72-3, '74. Avlonarion: Itea', that the Temple of Apollo of Tamynai is near C7043 but the location of the Temple of Apollo of Tamynai is not actually known. See a full discussion in Fachard [2012], 64 " ..., mais son emplacement exact est inconnu, ..."

I can find no support for the idea that a temple of Apollo lies beneath the well-known Venetian tower (F6043) at Avlonari (F1604)
