NOTES
1. Page numbers in Renfrew [2011] are, in actuality, location numbers in the electronic edition, ISBN 978-1-78570-773-5.
2. The location of Lakkoudhes is described in Doumas [1977] 73 like this: "At the south-west end of Naxos, about half an hour's walk to the north of the bay of Ayiassos (Fig. 2: 44), is an area surrounded by low hiills known by the name of Lakkoudhes (= Pits). Possibly this name was given to the pre-historic graves which were now and then accidentally discovered by ploughing. The area is bordered to the east by Archatos, to the west by Potamidhes, to the north by Athalassou and to the south by the hill of Ayiassos which separates the homonymous bay from Lakkoudhes (fig. 2:44). A hillock named Thromili dominates the site. On a strip of the gentle southern rocky slope of this hillock an Early Cycladic cemetery was plundered late in 1961."
Half an hour's walk (about 2 km.) N from Ayiassos (one proceeds to the NE) brings you to the region marked 'Lakkoudhes' in Topoguide (F6342). Archato (F6346) is about 1.5 km. to the E around the church of Panagia ston Archato (F6344). Potamidhes (F6345) is a named region about 2 km. to the WSW. The named region of Athalassou (around the Panagia Athalassou (F6341)) is just 1 km. to the NW. The hill of Agiassos (F6343) is about 1100 m. directly to the S. This defines our area unmistakably. As for the 'hillock named Thromili' I do not find this toponym and there are several candidates in the immediate area. I have chosen what I consider to be the most probable (F6347) but the reader should exercise caution.
