GENERAL SITE TYPE  Cem

TYPE

1.    Cem.   Fossey [1988], 58    '...1.5 km to the East (of C1926, rhc) have been found, according to local information, tombs of Middle Helladic date.'
2.    Tomb.   Ålin [1962], 120    'In der Nähe fanden sich 2 Kistengräber mit einigen Vasen und einem Eisenmesser, die wohl nachmykenisch waren.'
3.    Tomb.   Farinetti [2011 AI14], 11    '1.5km to the E of the Prophitis Ilias site tombs of MH date are reported by locals (component TA_55) - Fossey 1988: 58.'

PERIOD (High Chronology)

1. Middle Helladic: (2000 BC - 1600 BC)
    a.    Farinetti [2011 AI14]: 11, Specifically Component TA_55
    b.    Fossey [1988]: 58, 'tombs of Middle Helladic date.'

2. Sub Mycenaean: (1060 BC - 1000 BC)
    a.    Ålin [1962]: 120, ?? '... die wohl nachmykenisch waren.'

NOTES

1.  Placing is notional and based on map in Farinetti [2009 AI14], pg. 1, fig. 2, point 33. Actual location is controversial. See note in Farinetti, op. cit., pg. 11, '32/33. Prophitis Ilias: ...' Fossey [1988], pg. 57 gives directions which put it in or near a military area but even this seems not to agree with his map on p. 28, fig. 3.

2.  I am assuming that these are the same tombs reported by Brown [1905/1906] 95. Brown says 'iron nail' but Ålin says 'Eisenmessen'.
